Axel Honneth is professor of social philosophy as well as director of the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt am Main and Jack C. Weinstein Professor for the Humanities in the Department of Philosophy at Columbia University, New York. His most recent publications are The Pathologies of Individual Freedom: Hegel’s Social Theory (Princeton UP 2010) and The I in We: Studies in the Theory of Recognition (Polity Press 2012). His newest book, The Right of Freedom, is forthcoming from Polity.
